what does the 's' in streamyx stand for?

s = SUCKS

i don't think a day even passes without my connection going down for no apparent reason. and as of date... it's been TWO WHOLE DAYS now that i cannot get online. some DSL problem which has been plaguing my house for like the longest time ever.

i wonder when will the service ever improve. perhaps it's time to stop the monopoly and allow OTHER BROADBAND PROVIDERS to enter the market. then at least... there'll be competition and better service provider wins. HOPEFULLY streamyx would then buckle up. HOPEFULLY.

perhaps it's time to stop paying every month for my broadband services. i hardly EVER get to use my broadband for a month. give or take... after deducting the days i CANNOT CONNECT TO THE INTERNET... it'll probbly amount to HALF A MONTH. i don't quite see the point in paying for a month's worth of internet connectivity when i can only access the internet for HALF THE MONTH.

hmm...

anyways... STREAMYX SUCKS. i'm so going to change providers the moment i have a choice.

=work=
april suddenly became a CRAZY month for me. one of the files i was working on was closing... another threatened to close... and yet another WANTED to close end of this month.

but all's well and i'm glad to announce that the deal i was working on since january has finally entered the debt capital market! we had a signing ceremony on 25 april 2007 and it was so cool to see the number 2 bigshots around.

learnt so much about private debt issuances and i even drafted the information memorandum! eee... so proud of myself. though it wasn't without much difficulty and loads of help and guidance.

but i rejoiced a tad too early for the fact that the deal is finally closing and i would be less busy. my boss decided to have me work with her only on another deal. a syndication. OMG.

finally got my final review... was a month overdue but i really didn't mind. getting confirmation only just meant that my notice period increases from one month to TWO MONTHS!!! *sigh* oh wells... at least i know i haven't screwed up bad enough for my boss to NOT WANT ME. she didn't write anything bad in the review! does that mean i'm good? but i feel like i'm really lousy... is she just being really nice considering that i would see the review? *doubts*

the cup was at the curve that day and i still don't see what's the hype about it considering the crowd there that day. lotsa sweaty stinky men gasping and queueing to see the cup to touch the cup. it's just a freaking cup. and a plain boring old one at that.

my deepest condolences to jian and family... 27 April 2007. he's in a happier place now peaceful and free from pain and suffering. even though i met him only a few times and he was not the man he used to be, he was still cheeky and i daressay... he's probbably up to mischief right now. =)

work's been pretty much slow lately. the files i'm handling are quite alrights. nothing too demanding. some days i just sit in office doing absolutely nothing except stare at my pc, the ceiling, the floor, my cubbie mate... so much so til she threatened to throw her smelly shoe at me! poor woman is so overworked whilst i sit around playing dumb computer games like "freecell" and "spider solitaire". that was last week. this week work has finally kicked up. with 2 files alive at the same time. will be heading to ipoh this friday for a meeting. wonder what we'll be eating this time. *hehehe*

nothing to shout about. my life's just as mundane as ever. nothing interesting ever happens!!! *yawns* saw "Pan's Labyrinth" and "300" at the movies lately. i think i like them both. "Pan's Labyrinth" is fairytale but no happy-ever-after ending... whilst "300" had 300 almost naked men with 6 pecs!!! *drooooools*

loving every second i spend with him and loathing every nanosecond i don't see him. sure there are fights along the way and disagreements but it has only made us stronger... and so much more in love. *grins*

suffering from sinus every other morning ever since i came back from UK. never had sinus before... damn malaysian weather... damn haze... damn dirty air!!! it's awful. imagine sneezing ur nose off for the whole day! and add the fact that ur nose is permanently dripping like a leaking tap. went to see the skin specialist for my eczema. i finally got to see him after a month of trying! and guess what? after looking at my palms, he declares that i have very dry skin and that's probbly what's causing my eczema. well, at least for now, there is no itch and the eczema is on it's way to clearing up. let's just hope it is for good.

did i mention that spring's bf finally proposed??? spring's gonna get married soon!!! *sigh* and as for summer, she seem to be pretty unhappy at work. haven't had time to really sit down and hear summer out... but i hope all goes well for her soon. *hugssss*

and what is so special about this day? it's a friday. the last day of a working week! the next day would be saturday = no work!!! no need to wake up early the next day! everyone's feeling lazy... friday. friday. friday.

but today is extra special.


someone special was born this day.
a quarter of a decade ago.
someone who makes my heart goes a-flutter.
and fills my days with laughter.
someone special in every way.
who brightens up my day everyday.
someone who brought joy into my life.
someone aged the square of five.

although we both had to work... plans were made for dinner. but syn hun beat me to planning how to celebrate his birthday!

syn hun suggested dinner at buonasera in ss2 and the 3 of us were for most of the night there... the only customers in the shop!!!

BUT...

...the service was good. the ambience wow. and the food was excellent!!!

though i may be biased due entirely to the fact that buonasera serves fettuccini carbonara with PORK BACON!!! yummz!

a bottle of spanish red wine was opened too and so, expect to see me with red face. though... i was a tad bit afraid of drinking much no thanks to the fact that the night before, i had a tall slim glass of white wine and a short fat glass of red wine at the farewell dinner for my head of department and i got woozy. =.="

WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME???!!!

anyways... back to the topic...





yes, syn hun claims that i am ruining his reputation so any pictures of him from now on shall have the red apple face there unless he tells me to remove it. and yes. i do have LOTS of pictures of him. i dunno why.





nutty chocolate cheesecake from cake sense.

it was delicious! not too sweet. just perfect.





err... not that the birthday boy had to light his own candles. it was more like HE accidentally blew out a candle whilst laughing and so he had to relight it.





me and syn hun were naughty so we stuffed one of the candles down wayyy down into the cake and made jian pull the candle out with only his mouth.

he succeeded... but when he looked up back at us...

so cute~!!! *kiss*

and this was what syn hun, myron and syed got jian. superb! now we don't have to wait for settlers to re-open anymore just to play this game!!!

christmas, isn't christmas...

i know it is 2007 already and that christmas has since been long and over, but heck! i haven't had enough of christmas!!!

think about it, don't you think that christmas is just too short??? i mean, shopping malls don't put up any christmas decorations until perhaps around end of november/early december! radio stations don't play christmas songs much until perhaps a few days BEFORE the actual day!!! where are the decorations akin to that of fenwick's window displays? what happened to carolling??? where's the christmas spirit? where's the celebrations?!!

and also... i believe in the 12 days of christmas... as per the song and so, today is technically... the 9th day of christmas!!!

on the 9th day of christmas my true love gave to me...

this christmas was the first time me and jian got to spend christmas together!!! last year i spent christmas in sabah and he was in penang and so this christmas really meant something to me. to us, i'm sure.

i had so much fun and i was fed so much food that it was definitely worth the insane rush at work, the mad dash home, the no-proper-dinner-4-hour-long-car-ride-up-to-penang, and the flu-i-caught-becos-someone's-aircon-was-on-20degrees-and-i-had-no-blanket!!!

i lurrve my christmas presents and i'm thankful for so many things that if i start listing them out, this post would probbly take forever!!! but most of all, i'm thankful i got to spend christmas with jian and his family.

and with that... i say...

have a holly jolly christmas
it's the best time of the year

one (1) dinner time some week(s) back, we went to prince cafe in ss2. i ordered something soupish with egg and two (2) slices of luncheon meat. when my meal came, guess what i saw?

two (2) x three (3) weeks back, jian took me to his firm's annual dinner. the theme was bollywood dreams. everyone was dressed resplendently in luxurious silks and comfortable cotton sarees. i was in a saree too but it was an overdose of pink and hence too obscene to post up. nevertheless...

three (3) saturdays ago (well, i counted THIS saturday)... we attended the kl bar committee's annual dinner & dance themed retro. so naturally, we went retro...

a little something to ponder upon...



an elderly couple was walking along the road. the old lady was guiding the old man even though it was obvious to see that the old lady was older than the old man. it appeared that the old man suffers from alzheimers whereas the old lady was a picture of perfect health. but they look extremely happy and contented together.

but they were not a couple. the old man was not the old lady's husband. they were not married.

when the old lady met the old man, the old man was a divorcee with children of his own. they fell in love but the old man would not marry the old lady for fear that his young children would be unhappy and would not be able to accept her as their mother. he told the old lady that he'll tell his children when they have grown up. and the old lady waited despite her being older than him.

the children have all grown up but still they did not marry. the old man said he wanted to see his children all settled down before he would marry the old lady. and so the old lady waited again. she was past her prime. with no way of her ever having children of her own.

all his children got married and had children of their own but still the old man and old lady did not wed. becos at the age of 60, the old man lost his memories and no longer recognises the old lady.

(actually i'm still learning, can i still be called a student?) into a world where one joins the ratrace and slog our life away. where one puts up with all the shit thrown at us for no reason whatsoever at our bosses'/clients' whim and fancy just so we can climb up society's ladder and attain greatness/wealth/power/recognition.

a grand day. one of the days i will never forget for the rest of my life. the wonderful day where years of studying, hardwork, tears and fears, examinations, attachment, chambering, crap pay, failures and achievements are finally recognised and rewarded. the day those who doubted my abilities admitted their defeat. the day i was called to the malaysian bar. the day i was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the high court of malaya at the kuala lumpur high court with the qualification of being a barrister-at-law from lincoln's inn. the day i became a lawyer.

5 October 2006.

the day where my little once-so-insignificant scrawl masquerading as my signature would be worth a whole lot more than it once used to be. (i need to change my signature to something that looks more professional) where my every advice would be listened to and acted upon. where sly and conniving relatives would come and say "wah... big girl become lawyer edi horr. so next time i get saman u defend me for free horr?" irregardless of what field of law u work in and how much u're only earning. where at every gathering of uncles and aunties, ah-sok and ah-pohs, one would undoubtedly hear about how if one throws a stone into a group of 10 people, 8 out of 10 would be lawyers or the "advice"... "be good lawyer. don't be lawyer buruk can edi ok?"

and then it was saturday...

decided to take my besties and our respective better halves out for a celebratory dinner (why am i celebrating myself growing older???)... and so we all ended up in SOULed OUT, desa sri hartamas.

managed to get a table despite it being a saturday night thanks to ghee who made a reservation for me.

the food the atmosphere the service the ambience the company... purrfect.


everyone stuffed silly with food... happy hour still going on... table cleared of dishes...


...and then suddenly a cake plops down in front of me... and i was FORCED to put on a hairband with lotsa lotsa candles on it...


...as if my cake isnt almost a fire hazard, they want me to turn into one myself... =.="


next thing i know, SOULed OUT staff and my pals were singing "happy birthday" to me... and it isn't officially my birthday yet.

(i haven't any photos of the night becos i did not bring my camera... the only person with camera has YET to send ME the pics! *cough* GHEE *cough*)

it was only around 9pm saturday night and already i had one black russian and now i have to down a flaming lamborghini. die.....

...and i have to drive!!!

omg, the feeling of the hard liquor going down... BURNING!!! instantaneous redness instantaneous woooziness........

thank god jian can drive and so he drove me, sue and ming to damansara jaya giant to buy water (for me) and beer (for the two guys) with me giving instructions as to which way to go. yes, i was still kinda sober.

NOT!

after arriving at damansara jaya and parking, we walked into giant and grabbed the relevant stuff... paid at the cashier... before i said "omg, i'm gonna pass out" and grabbed hold of jian and didn't let go.

according to sue, i went from red to white in less than a second. yeah, i almost passed out. we had to wait around the cashier area of giant for quite some time before i was ok to walk back to the car. and meet up with ghee and jie to follow them all the way to damansara perdana to go to their fren's house for some games and some drinking session. more games than drinking though...

what a night... oh, what a night...

it was nearing that time of the year again... where i add yet another fire hazard onto my lil' cake...

this time it started even earlier! geez... i didn't wanna grow OLD THAT soon...

but...

..my darling is always the best and he always likes to do things early...
