[author's note : this kinda happened sometime ago... been busy preparing for my MCTs so i didn't have the time to pick the pics and edit and all... but now that MCTs are OVER, here it is!!!]
we had this lil' 'field trip' to carlisle... to visit the court there. it was a great experience... we got to meet some barristers and a few judges. sat in for a few cases... ooh! there was this one case that a couple of guys came in carrying MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS and they walked into the accused stand. and thruout the trial, we were kinda waiting to see if they would suddenly stand up and start playing!!! [^_^]
and my goodness... the amount of charges these guys had... and when the prosecutor was laying out the facts, i was thinking "and how many people were involved again?" it sounded as though there was a riot! what with climbing outta windows and hitting people with bottles... one moment here and the other moment there... [-.-"]
anywayz, apart from listening to several cases, we had lunch with the judges and barristers. lunch was typical finger food... err, mostly sandwiches. [=.=]
after lunch, we had to do some advocacy exercises in which we practised our bail applications in front of two judges. well, not all of us. and then, we had the treat of watching two barristers do the bail applications! and they did it ON THE SPOT! it was amazing... especially for the prosecutor... he got the brief, read thru it really quick and began his application there and then. *respect* [>.<]

and the bus trip back from carlisle... it was so darn noisy! guess alcohol makes people noisier... oh and it was stinking too... penny decided to smoke on the bus. err... hello? we're on a bus and we can't OPEN THE WINDOWS!
weng-o visited the on-board loo 3 times and we cheered each time he came out... don't ask me why. i don't know why either... just karl making us cheer! [>.<] and a few bangla guys were at the back of the bus singing... [^_^]
all in, i would say the trip was a success... was interesting and fun! we should have done one like that a long time ago!!!
