I miss Taipei...
Yes, I really do. Whilst it's great to be back at home with loved ones, there are things about Taipei that I'm missing...
Namely, how absolutely safe the place feels. Walking back to the hotel at 1 in the morning from Shihlin Night Market felt so safe. We definitely can't do that here. Buying nectarines and strawberries at 1am too! A 24hr fruit market!!!
The peacefulness of the city. The people who are just so kind, quiet and nice! It's amazing. They seem to have adopted the Japanese culture. They don't talk loudly, even when on the phone. If they're on a public transportation and they receive a call, they either cancel the call, or if they answer the call, they'll say that they'll return the call or just keep the conversation short. If a child starts to scream or cry, the parents would hush the child.
The cleanliness of their public transportation. You can't eat, drink, chew gum or betel nut on the MRT or bus. If they catch you, you will be fined heftily.
It rained most of the time that I was there. And whilst the rain kinda dampened the mood, and the weather got pretty cold, the one thing that caught my eye was that shops would provide umbrella stands and people will leave their umbrellas in it before entering the shop. Best part of it all is that no one will steal your umbrella! U can leave it unattended and it'll still be there when you come back. The other thing was that some shops would provide umbrella covers, and shoppers would use the covers!
Oh, I miss Taipei... :(
