sleepy...

"The feeling of sleepiness when you are not in bed, and can't get there, is the meanest feeling in the world."
- Edgar Watson Howe

i'm so sleepy. i'm at work and i'm sleepy. falling asleep at my pc just waiting... *yawns*

hmm... i seem to spend most of my time sitting around waiting...

Farewell...

Great is the art of beginning, but greater is the art of ending.
- Lazurus Long

how does one say goodbye?
especially to someone you never thought you would find it hard to say goodbye to.

how does one say goodbye?
especially to someone who's been a great teacher to you.

how does one say goodbye?
especially to someone you realised you've come to admire.

how does one say goodbye?
especially to someone who's like a mother to you.

how does one say goodbye?
please someone tell me how...

Why does it take a minute to say hello and forever to say goodbye?

decisions...

The doors we open and close each day decide the lives we live.
- Flora Whittemore

we make decisions everyday, even unconsciously. waking up and getting out of bed is a decision in itself. but every now and then, we come face to face with having to make a very big decision. decisions that require a good deal of consideration, careful analysing, planning and eventually, coming to the decision itself.

what phone should i get??!!!

decisions decisions...

trees

"To sit in the shade on a fine day and look upon verdure is the most perfect refreshment."
- Jane Austen

reluctantly dragged myself outta bed early this morning. all because summer woke me up and spring wanted to have breakfast at 8am. spring had her company's sports day today...

what i did not anticipate was that i would leave the house from 8am and only get back at 4.30pm.

after breakfast, summer and i followed spring to her sports day at FRIM - Forest Research Institute Malaysia. to watch spring play badminton... mixed doubles... in the AFTERNOON!

it's been a very long time since i last went to FRIM. think it was since primary school... can hardly remember the place at all. but what delighted me most was the sight of rows and rows of tall green leafy trees!!!

i know this sounds mad but trees make me happy...

"I like trees because they seem more resigned to the way they have to live than other things do."
- Willa Cather, 1913

well... after enduring this past week, to a point where i almost just wanted to break down and cry, i deserved to be made happy... =P

"Deep in the sun-searched growths the dragonfly
Hangs like a blue thread loosened from the sky."
- Dante Gabriel Rossetti, Silent Noon

and there were dragonflies flying around!!!
i don't know what's with my recent fascination with dragonflies but they make me happy too... *grins*

anyways, sitting there by the football field watching guys from spring's firm play football and having an ice-cream was a welcome break. it was boring, yes, but it relaxed me. the trees, the breeze, the sounds of the insects... nature... and spring and summer...

thank god for the trees!!!

"I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth's sweet flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in Summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree."
- Joyce Kilmer, "Trees," 1914

everything is everything

sometimes it seems
we'll touch that dream
but things come slow or not at all
and the ones on top, won't make it stop
so convinced that they might fall
let's love ourselves then we can't fail
to make a better situation
tomorrow, our seeds will grow
all we need is dedication

everything is everything
what is meant to be, will be
after winter must come spring
change, it comes eventually

hot sun + hot air = relaxing holiday?

when it is hot... it is super freaking hot!

at first it was like an unwanted chore... it took away the weekend... a waste of precious weekend time...

then a thought brought smiles to faces... we did NOT have to work whilst everyone else had to!
then it turned into excitement... but not for long... excited faces then became grimaces... frustration... irritation...
and then they arrived... and excitement returned as people silently waved goodbye to the life-sucking trap called the work building.
all went silent as people drifted to dreamland... snoozing at a time of day when people are working!

and then it was lunch...

and then it was "are we there yet?"

what was supposed to be a long four hour bus ride turned into a torture ride of five and a half hours...
imagine arriving at the state of your destination and then suddenly the driver turns around and asks... "nak gi mana ni?"
(translation: where are you going?)

HORRORS!!!

and finally arrival!!!

it was beautiful!

and a welcome relief to our almost non-existent miserable excuse of a life...

a view of the pool from my room...

...and again at night... (my camera's focusing is starting to go haywire... i need a new camera!!!)

a nearer view of beautiful pool on a hot sunny afternoon...

there's a 'hidden' paradise near the pool... *grins*

bbq buffet (not so nice... food were rather burnt and the meat, overdone)... at night at the garden terrace near the poolside...

sugar and spice and all things nice... that's what little girls are made of...

the 'hidden' paradise i was talking about earlier...

i like this shot... it even have people playing volleyball in it!

sunset on the beach with the hermits...

our little family grown smaller... MELLY where?!! :(

i just realised i didn't reveal where in the world we went...

it's...

SWISS GARDEN RESORT KUANTAN

the buffet breakfast wasn't too great. it takes a good 15 minutes to get an order of 2 scrambled eggs, 1 omelette and 1 sunny side up. the lady at the egg station looked as if she blames us for her being there...

the buffet lunches were not too bad...
the buffet dinners was not bad at all... dessert was yummy... oh, and no two meals were the same... (that excludes the breakfast). just don't try the bbq dinner buffet... like i said above, meat is overdone and that includes fish/prawns/crab... and burnt. only nice thing about the bbq dinner buffet... the sausages... albeit a bit salty...

but for the stressed and weary... try their slightly expensive but really relaxing and soothing...

the 'hidden' paradise i keep talking about above... *grins*

kuantan was fun!!!

teachers' day

since it is teachers' day...

this is my shout-out to all the teachers in my life thus far...

...starting with...

-my parents-
for teaching me so many things (good and bad) i shall not list them down lest i fall asleep or bore people to death or i might just find myself typing until tomorrow morning and still am not done.

-my kindy school teachers, ms anne & ms tam-
(i think those were their names *embarassed*)
for teaching me my abc's and 123's and giving me homework too at the wee young age of 4/5/6...

-puan nor azimah, puan kesh ong, cik jeannie (now known as puan jeannie), puan gordave, encik salleh, encik rosli husain, cik nurul-
to my teachers in primary school... for everything you taught me.
yes, puan gordave too... she may be scary but she had a heart of gold

-my chinese tuition teacher, ms lee-
for patiently teaching me to read and write in mandarin including learning chinese calligraphy... which unfortunately to this day, i have yet to completely master. i still hold the brush wrongly!!! *embarrased*
for putting up with our antics whenever we get naughty and not want to have lessons and we lock you in the toilet. we're so very sorry!

-my primary school tuition teacher, ms yong-
for trying to pound into that little head of mine mathematics, malay, english, "alam & manusia all in one sitting... =P

-puan goh, puan chelva, puan nancy chan, mrs tan, puan norani, puan yip-
thank you all... esp puan norani for worrying so hard i would not pass my chemistry and for looking so relieved when you heard what i got for spm chemistry.

-mrs leong-
for turning me into a math freak... additional maths too for that matter. but i got my As!!! and i'm in the wrong profession where everyone declares that we're damn lousy in maths and i'm probbly the only one refuting such declaration.

-ms kanchana, ms kalpana, mr aru, mr kalai, ms suzy-
yes, mr kalai too!
for not failing me in my law subjects!!!

-mr & mrs tan & devano-
for taking me in as an attachment student and for letting me learn so much in a space of 9 months! for making me responsible for whatever i did.

-andrew hutchinson, chris rose, chris rogers, j.o.-
for 'showing' us the way life is for barristers!!!

-my friends-
to each and everyone of you... for the various life lessons you taught me.

-chambees!!!-
you know who you guys are... my chambering period wouldn't have been that much fun if it weren't for you guys.

-my darling smoomoo!-
for teaching me to love myself, to have faith in myself and for so many lessons you have yet to teach me... *hugs* for all the football lessons you've been giving me. for all the movies/songs/artistes/actors/actresses/monkey god/monkeys/firefox/artic fox... you've enlightened my mind to... *grins*

and last but not least...
-my boss and my kakak!-
thank you for still tolerating my dumb-dumb questions and my blur face and my extremely confused looks!!!

if i left out anyone it's not because i'm not grateful for you. it's because at the moment i can't quite remember your names (this explanation ain't helping... isn't it?).

THANK YOU ALL!!!

STREAMYX SUCKS

=rant for the day=
what does the 's' in streamyx stand for?

s = SUCKS

i don't think a day even passes without my connection going down for no apparent reason. and as of date... it's been TWO WHOLE DAYS now that i cannot get online. some DSL problem which has been plaguing my house for like the longest time ever.

i wonder when will the service ever improve. perhaps it's time to stop the monopoly and allow OTHER BROADBAND PROVIDERS to enter the market. then at least... there'll be competition and better service provider wins. HOPEFULLY streamyx would then buckle up. HOPEFULLY.
*tall hopes*

perhaps it's time to stop paying every month for my broadband services. i hardly EVER get to use my broadband for a month. give or take... after deducting the days i CANNOT CONNECT TO THE INTERNET... it'll probbly amount to HALF A MONTH. i don't quite see the point in paying for a month's worth of internet connectivity when i can only access the internet for HALF THE MONTH.

hmm...

anyways... STREAMYX SUCKS. i'm so going to change providers the moment i have a choice.

=work=
april suddenly became a CRAZY month for me. one of the files i was working on was closing... another threatened to close... and yet another WANTED to close end of this month.

but all's well and i'm glad to announce that the deal i was working on since january has finally entered the debt capital market! we had a signing ceremony on 25 april 2007 and it was so cool to see the number 2 bigshots around.

learnt so much about private debt issuances and i even drafted the information memorandum! eee... so proud of myself. though it wasn't without much difficulty and loads of help and guidance.

but i rejoiced a tad too early for the fact that the deal is finally closing and i would be less busy. my boss decided to have me work with her only on another deal. a syndication. OMG.

finally got my final review... was a month overdue but i really didn't mind. getting confirmation only just meant that my notice period increases from one month to TWO MONTHS!!! *sigh* oh wells... at least i know i haven't screwed up bad enough for my boss to NOT WANT ME. she didn't write anything bad in the review! does that mean i'm good? but i feel like i'm really lousy... is she just being really nice considering that i would see the review? *doubts*

=life=
quite a few things happened..... amongst others...

17 March 2007

what involves lotsa green, lotsa black drink, lotsa cheerful tunes, lotsa gorgeous blue eyes and lotsa merry-making?

ST. PATRICK'S DAY!!!

well, in malaysia's case, no gorgeous blue eyes were seen but... much to jian's delight...

...lotsa pretty guiness girls!

24 March 2007

what involves more green, a ball, 11 men a side, a stadium full of fans and lots more in pubs, bars, restaurants, mamaks, at home?

THE UEFA CUP!!!

the cup was at the curve that day and i still don't see what's the hype about it considering the crowd there that day. lotsa sweaty stinky men gasping and queueing to see the cup to touch the cup. it's just a freaking cup. and a plain boring old one at that.

one hell of a long foosball table...

and to jian's further excitement...

...jojo struys... what's so chun about her anyways? her voice is so damn whiny and screeching it irritates the hell out of me. and she's a host... *nosebleed*

7 April 2007

and again... much to jian's excitement and insistence...

what's on every weekdays morning, cracks one up whilst driving to work?

yups... at jian's insistence since we were at 1u that day, we had to go see the hitz.fm birthday bash awhile...

btw... i just noticed in jian's pic...

[-.-]"

and... i think....

*grins*

22 April 2007

spring celebrated turning a quarter of a century older on 16 April 2007 and we decided to take a trip...

what's misty, hot and cold all at the same time?

and you can find the statue of liberty riding a motorbike?

and this stick-like thing?

GENTING!!!

gee... i haven't been up there in years! and it was kichi's first ever long distance, uphill trip!!!
so proud of my kichi...

(i just realised that kichi has yet to be introduced on this blog... kichi will be introduced in my next post k?)

and me and jian went crazy... *lol*

=misc=
does anyone agree with me when i say that this badminton player looks like jian???

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

post-edit
my deepest condolences to jian and family... 27 April 2007. he's in a happier place now peaceful and free from pain and suffering. even though i met him only a few times and he was not the man he used to be, he was still cheeky and i daressay... he's probbably up to mischief right now. =)
*hugs*
